Birdwatching

To date, we have recorded well over 300 bird species in the area, with another 28 in its immediate surroundings, making our reserve an excellent location for birdwatching and photography.

The area is considered a priority Important Bird Area (AICA), as it is home to several threatened species and nine globally important Yungas endemic species. It also contains the only known nest in Argentina of the Great Black Hawk (Falco deiroleucus), located at Ecoportal de Piedra. Including the Yungas and Chaco environments that can be visited in a single day, we have over 400 possible species, many of which are endemic or have restricted ranges.

Horseback Riding

Horseback riding in the jungle is a unique experience that combines adventure and an appreciation for nature.
The tours are led by a family of authentic gauchos from the Yungas region.

At Ecoportal de Piedra, we are committed to environmental conservation; therefore, environmental education and raising awareness about the importance of protecting our forests are key parts of our work. Educational camps and study trips are organized at the reserve to promote knowledge and environmental preservation.

Off Road Experiences

4wd excursions are conducted in Land Rover Defenders or UTVs, tailored to the preferences and availability of visitors. We offer short rides of over an hour, as well as adventures of many days that include 4WD, horseback riding, and trekking along lesser-known trails in the Santa Bárbara mountain range. Some options explore the dry Chaco region, the Quebrada de Humahuaca, and the Puna plateau, with the opportunity to observe their rich flora and fauna. For nature enthusiasts, birdwatching excursions and photography tours are organized, customized to your interests and the length of your stay.
